Mishy Lesser - Mishy Lesser, Ed.D., is the learning director for the Upstander Project and Education Fellow at the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center at the University of Connecticut.  Currently Dr. Lesser spends much of her time researching and writing the five-inquiry Teacher's Guide for Dawnland. Mishy authored the Coexist Teacher’s Guide to promote learning about the complexity of reconciliation in post-genocide Rwanda. ​

Whiteswan Environmental, WE (One Mind for the Purpose of the Work) serves as a liaison between co-sponsoring agencies to support community healing through the natural, cultural and historical restoration to the Salish Sea for 7th generations sustainability as a measure of ecological health protection. 

WE have been working with a growing number of co-sponsors who are supporting our Indigenous Truth Washington project is to create dialogue and public education around the topic of "What would Truth and Reconciliation mean for Washington State?"

​Our co-sponsors have been working diligently throughout Whatcom County and expanding throughout Washington State to screen the film Dawnland followed by a panel discussion.  

Generation Forward - Equity & Honoring Cultures Committee

Generation Forward is a community collaborative representing 74+ stakeholders who envision a future where all Whatcom County children thrive. The Equity & Honoring Cultures Committee is working toward introducing a process of truth and reconciliation for Indigenous people in our state in order to ensure that ALL families and communities can flourish.

The Equity Project

The Whatcom Community College’s The Equity Project is an annual OneBook program, which includes readings and events.  The program is designed as a campus wide exploration of topics related to equity and inclusion. The 2018-19 theme is“A Local Context”; examining our local context of equity through the history of the Coast Salish Peoples
